DFC Laser Strike Procedures

In the event of a laser strike in flight, the procedure is as follows: 

  • Avoid looking at the laser

  • Turn off all exterior aircraft lights

  • Turn up all interior lights/avionics displays to full brightness

  • Advise other crew member(s)

  • Do not rub your eyes if exposed to a laser strike

  • Advise ATC (Generates CADOR)

  • Attempt to note position/location of strike (Squawk Ident w ATC and/or Foreflight)

  • File DFC SMS report 

  • Advise City of London police (lasers are prohibited within 10 km of airport)

  • File Transport Canada Form 26-0751E (Reporting Link Below)

  • Seek medical attention if necessary
